Loading a Reactor onto the river barge
Finding efficient and cost-effective solutions to logistics problems is a key issue for a pressure vessel manufacturer like SBN. The company is located in Ternitz — an old industrial center that is not on an international waterway. We assume complete responsibility for delivery, collaborating closely with freight forwarding specialists who provide true full service including marine transportation.
Depending on the size and weight of the equipment, road, rail or inland waterway routes are used to transport it to one of our preferred North Sea ports — Antwerp, Rotterdam and Hamburg — or Mediterranean or Black Sea ports with suitable facilities.
Due to existing restrictions on road and rail traffic — a 100-ton weight limit and a 4.5 m diameter limit, respectively — we have come down in favor of the Danube, and the river ports in Bratislava, Linz and Vienna, as the best and most cost-effective route to the seaports. Because of the growing size and weight of chemical equipment, we increasingly rely on combined rail and barge transport, as this is the best mix in terms of time and cost.
Where especially large pressure vessels are involved, there is also the option of part-by-part delivery to one of the Danube ports, where final assembly is performed.
